Pakistan Upgrades Two Karachi Laboratories to Strengthen Agricultural Safety and Exports
Pakistan inaugurated upgraded Central Plant Quarantine Laboratory and Federal Pesticides Testing and Reference Laboratory facilities in Karachi on October 23, 2026. The upgrade is meant to improve plant-disease detection, pesticide-quality testing and compliance with international trade standards.

Karachi Drug-Testing Laboratory Finds Four Medicines Falsified, Triggering a Nationwide Alert in Pakistan
The Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan issued a nationwide alert on October 21, 2026, after the Drug Testing Laboratory in Karachi found tested samples of four medicines did not contain their declared active ingredients: Velosef 500mg Capsule (LX3E), Augmentin 625mg Tablet (YT9D), No-Spa Forte 80mg Tablet (AN010) and Mucaine Suspension (257A088).
